I cannot say I’ve always been fascinated with cooking and baking, it has just been a part of me ever since I can remember. My grandmother used to make us knead bread at a very young age, then my mother followed with mixing scones or “starting the pap”. Obviously, that leads to making the pap or the scones. So I guess I have to say making food is second nature to me.
I’m blessed to have an awesome husband and two amazing children. I love making everything from scratch and would love my kids to learn and enjoy homemade food as much as I possibly can make them
I’m a South African living in Serbia. I’m absolutely in with love cooking, baking mostly. I try to make sure that every plate I serve takes you to magical food land where you fall in love. I’m self-taught or rather mom-inspired. For a person who loves food, Serbia, or rather the Balkan region is a dream. The history of most dishes date weigh back and most people still hold on to those traditional foods and practices of making the food. There is a lot of history involved in food, and that is something very interesting to me. The food here is humble, the dishes are so many and just so diverse.
As I learn Balkan dishes from mostly my mother-in-law, I will share not only what I learn, but also the history, the Balkan lifestyle, and my heritage as a proud African.
The best way to learn about a region’s food is by learning about the culture, history, people, and place. I hope to interpret my learning of the Balkan region as best as I can, so you may fall in love just as I did.
With Love
