These mini cheese scones are truly delightful and extremely charming. They’re perfect for any occasion, may be served at a high tea, or family gathering, or just had as a snack like I usually have them. They come together in no time and use minimal ingredients which you definitely have in your kitchen.
I’ve never really been a fan of savoury scones, that’s probably because I usually prefer life on the sweeter side, but these mini cheese scones totally hit the mark.
Because this recipe requires very few ingredients, the ingredients obviously have to be of really good quality as they’ll definitely come through in the final product. You will definitely taste what you have put in.
Butter or Margarine
Margarine is obviously the substitute for butter and it’s cheaper, and created from vegetable oils such as canola and sunflower oil, instead of butter made from milk. If you want a buttery flavour for these pogačice sa sirom (Mini cheese scones), butter is your bet. Also, butter is the healthier option here. However, if you can’t have butter, margarine works well too in this recipe.
Cheese
White and feta cheese are very popular in the Balkans. A lot of people make cheese, so it’s easier to get good, quality cheese around these areas. This is a Balkan recipe, requiring the kind of cheese popular in this area. So any feta kind of cheese will work in this recipe if you don’t have an option for young or mature white cheese.
These mini cheese scones are lovely, beautiful to look at and taste really good. They melt in your mouth and you’ll easily fall in love with them. I hope you enjoy them as much as my family and I do.
